After successful implementation in selected districts, Government of India through Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has decided to extend the implementation of iRAD project in all the States and Union Territories. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu (in selected districts as pilot project) and subsequently in all States and Union Territories. In the first instance, it has been decided by Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India to implement the project in six States, viz. IRAD application was developed and can be accessed in mobile(android and iOS versions) and web platform. Accordingly formulate new interventions and policies to facilitate reduction in the number of road accident and enhance road safety in India. The purpose of iRAD project is to provide such mechanism to collect and analyze road accident data from all over the country to understand the causes of accident. The Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) Project is an initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India and funded by World Bank to establish an accurate and uniform accident data collection mechanism towards improving road safety in the country. And he had also announced that large Projects like ICJS (Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System) and NAFIS (National Automated Fingerprint Identification System) would soon be launched in the state. In his inaugural speech, he had also highlighted some of the important projects that are currently operating under the Mizoram Police Department such as CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Networks & Systems) and 112 ERSS (Emergency Response Support System). This project, he believed would particularly be very useful for Mizoram PWD in improving the road safety measures along the roads in Mizoram. Pu Lalchamliana on launching iRAD Project thanked the joint effort made by all the stakeholder departments for making this project implement from 15 th September 2021. Aizawl, the 12 th October 2021: The Home Minister, Pu Lalchamliana, Home Minister had launched Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) Project in Mizoram at the official function organized by the Mizoram Police at DGP Conference Hall, Mizoram Police Headquarters, Aizawl today.
